Examples of Brief Therapeutic Approaches in Primary Care

In the first video, the BHC joins the patient in the exam room after the PCP has moved on. He does a brief contextual interview in addition to reporting to the patient (played by an actor) what her PCP had asked him to address. This 4-minute section should be considered the first part of the interview in each of the three approaches, Cognitive Behavioral approach, Problems Solving approach, and Solution Focused approach, that are shown. These represent one generalist clinician’s use of each approach in a busy primary care practice.
